The Enlita program should be appropriate for individuals with the beginnings of metabolic syndrome. Reducing abdominal obesity, improving cholesterol levels and blood pressure, and avoiding sugary foods that can promote insulin resistance can all help reduce the risk of disease progression. Speak with your naturopathic doctor to make sure the foods are appropriate to your individual situation.

  • Taking pulse during food testing   16 years 6 weeks ago

Great question! Pulse testing is just one indication that there may be a sensitivity to that food. More important are the symptoms that may appear after challenging the food back into your diet. Remember that food sensitivities can be delayed, so make a note of the increased pulse that first time but really watch for any physical/emotional symptoms that may present in the next 2-3 days.

  • Portions?   16 years 6 weeks ago

I'm sorry, I did not use the proper verbiage in my last post. I was trying to refer to just the number of servings that each recipe would make, not the actual amount of each individual portion. It has made it so much more clear now having the servings per recipe listed. I am still having a bit of confusion with the per meal size. On the first page of the Menus for Week 1, in the "Determining Your Protein Needs', it states,"In our meal plans we have you eat 1/2 SERVING for Meal 1 and then 2-3 hours later when you are hungry, eat the 2nd half for Meal 2. Meal 3 is half of a normal lunch and Meal 4 in the other half.....and so forth. That tells me that if a recipe makes 4 servings then I should serve myself 1 SERVING for a meal, but only eat half of it and save the other half for the next meal. Now, in your post dated March 27th, you said,"If a recipe makes 4 or 6 or 8 servings total, you are supposed to eat 1 SERVING at each meal. Now, that tells me that I am to eat the COMPLETE SERVING at one meal, not just a half, and eat another COMPLETE SERVING at the next meal. Hence, confusion. I appreciate how hard you are working on this and know that it is a huge task to get us all to understand, Please tell me which of the above directions is correct. I understand about the turkey wraps which actually indicate to only eat half of a serving....but that is the only recipe that I have run into that actually says that. I am loving the program so far and have lost 5 pounds in the first 6 days.......and feel terriffic! Thank you for your time and for clearing this up.

    Hi Dawn,
Thanks for asking. This is good to know. I also don't have a tv. Due to a quirk in the way Comcast bills, it was cheaper to get the 'triple play' for a year over just phone and internet. The PC was hooked up and we watch TV on our computer. In a way, I can't wait until the 12 months are over. It will be more expensive, but the the tv is distracting.

So sorry I had to leave the call a little early due to family crisis. You did a great job! Thank you for the answer to my questions.
I am the one who did the detox using the Master Cleanse. I did the moderate detox for 2 days, then the master cleanse for 5 days then back to the moderate detox for 3 more days. It was a challenge! I couldn't tolerate the salt flush in the mornings. I did coffee enemas each day. After 2 days on juice alone, there is a certain serenity that takes over and a peacefulness and clarity of thinking. I have had a history of breast cancer 2 years ago and did a lot of juicing and coffee enemas during the first year after. So, it was good to get back to periodic cleansing again. I especially appreciated your mention of mental fasting and spiritual cleansing. That is also so important. I have found great help in the suggestions you have made regarding EFT and other emotional strategies throughout these weeks with you. Thank you again for all of your support to us! Louisa

Dr. Pearsall and Dr. Scott- I thank you so much for your time with the teleseminar! I enjoyed it very much and I hope many others will join in next time as well.

May I please request a copy of the recording? I write pretty fast, and have LOTS of notes, but I know there are things I missed. I would be grateful to have a copy of all that great information.

I will ferment some broccoli tomorrow and let you know in a few days how it turns out :). (I am thinking along the lines of a cruciferous kimchee :D --mmmmm!) Two questions concerning broccoli and the thyroid issue:

    1) Do broccoli sprouts have the same effect on thyroid function as other cruciferous veggies?

    2) Is this still a concern if you no longer have a thyroid (thyroidectomy)?

Thanks! You both are wonderful and *I appreciate you* !!

What is the best way to clear (detox) excess estrogen from the body? I appear to be VERY sensitive to even a very slight detox.

Would detoxing help in reversing adrenal stress? In a saliva ASI, I show 12 nM in AM, 2 nm at noon, 12 nm in PM, and 15 nM at midnight.

I have been working on detoxing heavy metals from my body for the last year and a half. I think I am getting close to appropriate levels (yeay!)-
    1) what's a good way to finalize this present detox and
    2) what would you recommend as a maintenance detox for someone who has had very elevated levels of heavy metals?

Thanks! Looking forward to the teleconference!

Can a person safely detox if on medications that would require them to take food with the meds? Will the normal liver detoxification pathways of medications be changed during a detox? Are there certain medications that may need to be reduced in dosage during or after a detox?
How far away from medications should a fiber supplement be taken so that it doesn't inhibit the action of the medication? I'm a nurse, just trying to get good information for the many questions I am asked in the office. Thank you so much!

  • Hypothyroidism: basal body thermometer VS regular therm?   16 years 6 weeks ago

Sounds like your temps are low. I would advise doing it again next month with the basal body thermometer and keeping a chart to bring to your doctor, but if you are eager to speak to your doctor about potential treatment sooner, you could of course make an appt and see his/her opinion about it right away.

You can find many videos of people performing EFT on youtube...

Is this recorded somewhere? I would love to see EFT being done as well. I don't have a TV, so I would need to see it online. Thanks for any help!

 It was the EFT technique! It's great because I had trouble following written instructions. This makes it easy. I'm going to use this everytime I feel stressed or crave food. For those who have cable, the show is on TLC.

    What does TIA mean?

TIA means "thanks in advance". :)

So ummm, I've taken my temp with a regular thermometer 3X a day for 2 days and it's always been below 97.8. You are saying to disregard that and go buy a dedicated basil body thermometer? I guess I don't understand why 100th's of a degree matter, since all my readings are below 97.7 anyway. Oh, maybe the treatments are different for varying 100th's of a degree? Hey you're the Dr I'll let you explain it. Lol Well I was going to call my Dr tomorrow but do you think I should wait until my next period and then use a basil body therm?

    TIA

  • Live Discussion?   16 years 7 weeks ago

ok Dawn, we will enable Live Chat and do that next time or just handle questions after the teleseminars.
This was an interesting experiment on what not to do. :)
I find this format stressful and cumbersome and would rather talk on the phone with people.

I do have to go now. Hope to talk with you more on our upcoming teleseminars. I really appreciate how active you are on these boards.

No, it isn't, but I LOVE DR. P for trying!! I am so lost in all the health mess I dealing with, and I so apprecaite that she is willing to sit at her computer and post back and forth.

It would be a LOT better if we could get the CHAT function activated.

Join us at the Hormone Forum.

ok, i'm going to address this in hormone forum.

we can work with you to make the coaching affordable. I'll have Dr. Scott contact you to discuss.

We are limited if you are not under the care of a physician. If you are, we can work together with your physician so that s/he approves our recommendations.

Or we can recommend someone in your state.

  • Calendar & Teleseminars   16 years 7 weeks ago

Live chats are when we are in a forum at the same time. No one was in the nutriton forum when i was in there.

Where is the Nutrition Forum? The only nutrition forum I can find is the discussion board.... but that can't be a "live chat".

You know what would be really cool is if you put a link right on the calendar to where an event is being held.

Yes, and I enjoyed a nice conversation with her. I know I could benefit from the 1 on 1, I just cannot afford to do both the Enlita program and the coaching. I also understand that you are very limited in what you can do over the phone. I need to find someone local to me or travel somewhere for care.

Right now yes it's a long distance call. I may try to do webinars in the future that won't be. I'll send out a newsletter on how to make cheap long distance calls.

What I'd like to talk about is

    Reversing Adrenal Stress
    Balancing out Estrogen Dominance
    Hypothyroidism/Hashimotos
    Food intolerances

And my inability to lose weight, even after 10 weeks of the program.
