Yesterday a friend called me up to talk. She was feeling depressed and frustrated and I wanted to share with you our dialogue that helped her go from feeling miserable to empowered and hopeful.

 Kris: "Kendra I'm really having a hard time at family gatherings. I'm surrounded by happily married couples with good jobs, nice homes, and beautiful happy kids. I look around and all I want to do is cry. I'm 40 now and I always wanted a family of my own and I can't believe I'm still single and childless.
 Not only that, I hate my job, I live in a crappy apartment, I don't even have a boyfriend, I feel like I've totally missed out on what's really important in life and I'm so devastated. I look at all the kids running around and I have to fight back the tears. I feel so discouraged and hopeless that I will never get any of what I truly want and I'm doomed to feeling empty and dissatisfied and unhappy.
 All I've done with my life is make mistakes. I should have tried harder to make my previous relationships work. Anything is better than being alone."
 Kendra: "First of all I'm so sorry to hear that you're hurting. My ego would love to complain along with you as misery loves company but I've learned that complaining is self-defeating.
 The reason why is because The Universal Law of Attraction states that whatever we think and feel strongly about, attracts more of that to us. If you and I talk about what we don't like about our lives, nothing will ever change.
 The truth is, your life is a summary of your thoughts and feelings. You created your life that way it is. If you don't have the things you want, it's because you're thoughts and feelings are not in alignment with what you want to create. If you don't believe you'll ever get what you want, the Universe won't believe it either."
 Kris: "It's true, I'm terrified I'll be single and childless and die alone and it makes me cry every time I see a happy family."

The Universal Law of Attraction and Relationships

 Kendra: "Right. How many minutes a day do you use spend feeling excited about meeting the man of your dreams and having a family with him?"
 Kris: "Never. How can I believe that will happen when it hasn't happened so far and I'm already 40?"
 Kendra: "The Universal Law of Attraction states that you'll see it when you believe it. Let me repeat that again. You'll see it when you believe it. You have to have a strong desire, strong faith and you have to practice visualizing it and feeling the excitement of having it before you can manifest it."
 Kris: "It's so hard to believe that it is that simple."
 Kendra: "It's not that simple. It's the first step. You also have to take action. Are you spending at least 7 hours a week on dating and meeting new men?"
 Kris: "No, maybe more like an hour."
 Kendra: "It's strange how we avoid doing things that we say are really important to us. That is called resistance. You can overcome resistance to investing the time into dating by writing out Universal Law of Attraction Affirmations for relationships like: I allow myself to schedule an hour a day to  look at online profiles and go out on dates and I, Kris, am happily married to the man of my dreams. You will need to schedule time to work on every area of your life to make sure it gets the attention it deserves."
 Kris: "Oh goodness. I'm already feeling stressed out and overwhelmed. I need a whole life overhaul. I don't have anything I want."
 Kendra: "Listen to what you say Kris. You've just talked about feeling stressed and not having anything you want, is that what you want to manifest .
 You have to remember that your thoughts, speech and behavior are all creative so you want to keep all three aligned with what you do want. The most important thing is to try to feel positive emotions at all times. Your emotions are even more important than your thoughts.
Law of Attraction Affirmation
 You can repeat Law of Attraction Affirmations over and over that you have a wonderful husband and kids but if you're crying the whole time while saying it, the Universe will not believe you. It is the desire, faith and excitement that creates a powerful vibration and allows you to place your order of what you want with the Universe.
 The key is to believe and act as if you already have it. State your affirmations like you already have it and that creates the vibrational alignment to attract more of that to you.
 Spend 15 minutes in the morning, noon and at night, writing out Law of Attraction Affirmations while stating them out loud: I, Kris, allow myself to have a wonderful loving husband and two kids. Make sure you feel excited and happy when doing this as the emotional state is key. Instead of "allow myself" you can say "demand and deserve" or "have" if you like. 
 Kris: "I will tell you right now, my biggest weakness is follow through. I feel this is all good advice, but I rarely follow through with advice. I read self-help books all the time but I never follow through with any of it.
 I signed up for Weight Watchers, but I didn't follow any of the advice and eventually dropped out. I hired a life coach once but I never did my homework. I don't know why I sabotage myself."
 Kendra: "Yes, you've hit the nail on the head why most people fail to get what they want in life. It's not because they don't know what to do, it's because they sabotage themselves with a lack of follow through.
 This is called Resistance. The ego (our lower self) wants to resist anything that is good for us. You have to reprogram your mind to overcome resistance. The affirmation "I allow myself to...." can help that.
 Kris, you might want to write out Law of Attraction Affirmations about how you see yourself. Right now you see yourself as a weak person with little discipline to follow through with anything. It's hard to follow through if you see yourself that way. What if you saw yourself as a woman who ALWAYS follows through and you are a high achiever who Always gets what she wants?
 Kris: "But I'm not that way."
 Kendra: "What if you saw yourself that way though?"
 Kris: "I'd probably follow through a lot more."
 Kendra: "Right. Don't let the past dictate who you are in the present. Every moment is an opportunity to demonstrate who you choose to be. You can recreate yourself in this moment. All that matters is the present moment. What is the greatest version of Kris you can be? Who do you want to be?"
 Kris: "I'm not even sure. But I do want to follow through."
 Kendra: "Ok then, 'I, Kris, allow myself to always follow through with what I set out to do.' Write it down 10 times, three times a day, believe it and demonstrate it!"
 Kris: "Ok I will!"
 Kendra: "If you want, you can email me your Law of Attraction Affirmation each day so you can be held accountable for doing them."
 Kris: "Deal! Thank you so much Kendra!"
 Kendra: "My final words are to make a list right now of 10 things you're grateful for. It will help produce a positive feeling state. Think about what you're grateful for as often as possible. The positive feelings are key to manifestation and happiness."
 Kris: "I can see that. Already I can think of one."
 Kendra: "What?"
 Kris: "I'm deeply grateful for having a friend like you who is a doctor and coach and doesn't let me wallow in self-pity but instead helps me change for the better."
 Kendra: "Thanks, I'm grateful for all the good you bring to my life also."
 I hope this dialogue with Kris was helpful. Complaining about what we don't like is commonplace as most people don't understand The Universal Law of Attraction (thoughts and feelings and actions attract.
