Whole Grains
A good friend of mine pointed out something that I cannot believe I did not think of before she mentioned it.
Her and I use whole grains exclusively when we bake or cook with grains (prior to starting this program, anyway!) She mentioned that we always had to be very considerate of others who were not sued to whole grains when we served them something to eat. (I used to keep a white loaf of bred in my freezer just for guests who were not used to eating whole grains.) If you just eat whole grains without easing into them, you are apt to have a bit of a digestive upset until your body acclimates digestively. (I know I am not telling you anything new-just setting the stage for my question
Could some of the tummy reactions I've had been from re-introducing whole grains without easing into them??? Rather than a sensitivity? I am wondering if my strong reaction to brown rice was caused by this?
So far I have reacted to brown rice, cooked eggs (which doesn't seem to bother me anymore, btw), and wheat. I did just fine with amaranth, quinoa, oats, dairy, raw eggs, and corn.
Thanks Dr. Winnie!

Hi Dawn,
I switched doctors when I moved to CO. I had the ALCAT done back in 2004, so my new doc wanted to see if anything changed for those four allergens (it did-a new allergy) and he wanted to see if I was celiac. Two out of three antibodies isn't conclusive. I'd need an invasive procedure to know for sure. I'll just stay off the gluten. 8)

I was called a Food Intolerance Panel and I was tested for Milk, Soy and Egg along with Gliadin. The result just had a result of '2' for the Gliadin. It didn't say with which two antibodies I tested positive. My MD ordered it and I had the blood taken at one of those labs like LabCorp or Quest. I also had an ALCAT which showed a severe intolerance to gliadin.
I hope this helps!
I tested positive for 2 out of 3 antibodies for gluten. Does that mean that I need to stay off gluten or is it a sensitivity?
Brown rice is generally very easy to digest so I wouldn't blame the "not easing into it" especially if you tested a small amount and had a big reaction. You could try soaking it and then cooking it in some homemade chicken broth and see if this makes a difference, as this will improve its digestibility, but it sounds like it does not work for you right now.

Tammy,
After having the ALCAT done, what is the reason you also had the Food Intolerance Panel done? Does one show something that the other does not?
I am having such mixed results, that I think I need to back up my Allergy Elimination Challenge with lab testing. Thanks for sharing that info!
