I appear to be possibly developing some gallbladder issues during this phase of the cleanse. The reason I suspect gallbladder is that I am having lower right quadrant pain, sleeping on my left side helps somewhat, and the pain increases after eating a meal. It could also be intestinal, or both, but I am not certain of either :? .

Input?

Any suggestions on how should I adjust what I am doing diet wise to help alleviate the problem?

You are the third person to recommend him to me!

THANK YOU! I appreciate you being so thoughtful in sharing your opinion of and experience with Dr. Klein!

I am glad it is working out health wise with your move to the East coast, but sad that you have moved from Colorado! I had hoped to connect in person with other Colorado folks here who are like minded :), but really, really enjoy the connection through this forum.

I really value your input!

Warm regards,

Doctors in the Springs

Dawn,
I understand what you are going through. We went through 5 doctors before we found Dr Joel Klein. He's an MD, but believes in practicing integrative medicine. He is a strong advocator of Mercola's dietary suggestions (and thus, also Enlita's). When I started going to him, he put me on a diet almost identical to Enlita's--except I basically have to follow the 1st week for 3 months!

I had to move back East to VA (actually Dr Klein suggested it) because I had a lot more health problems in CO--not sure why--maybe the lack of oxygen due to the elevation? I developed insomnia, candida, acne, dry skin and constant itching, my ankles started to swell, and had a constant sense of fear and anxiety. I also nearly lost my job because of loss of productivity resulting from the lack of sleep. It wasn't pretty.

When I moved back, almost everything went away. The acne and candida are still here but I'm on an anti-candida diet and taking Colonix, Toxinout and Threelac along with Olive leaf and Allicillin. That should kill the buggers!

I gave you details not because I think you should follow what the doc gave me, but to give you an idea of the type of treatment he offers. Oh--and he listens! The offices are cool too. It's like walking into a sanctuary--you never want to leave. He takes some types of insurance and that helps.

Thanks Dr. Scott!

I understand the importance of catching the stones and determining what caused them. I just haven't been able to retreive any as of yet. I'll keep using my screened funnel :)

So far, I have not been impressed with any of the ND I have interviewed here in Colorado Springs. Still searching, though. I apprecaite your support!!

hugs,

Dawn

Re:

Dawn,

There are different types of kidney stones. Identifying the type of stone may help give you insight into why it developed and prevention. Kidney stones can develop when fluids, minerals, and acids in the urine are out of balance.

If stones are small enough, they can pass on their own. If they are larger, treatment may be needed. And good water intake is so important in helping prevent and in addressing kidney stones.

I'm glad to hear that the pain has lessened, but please followup with your doctor if symptoms persist!

(FYI - the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians website (http://www.Naturopathic.org) lists 4 NDs in Colorado Springs.)

Thanks Tammy :)

The update on this is that I ended up in the ER after 3+ weeks of pain and was diagnosed with kidney stones.

I don't even know if THAT is what it is, because when the ER doc came to give me the results of the CT scan, he said, "There are several stones in your kidney and one in your ureter. The surgical clips from your prior appendectomy . . .." I stopped him there and explained that I did not have an appendectomy. He said, " Oh yes, that's right, it was your gallbladder that was removed . . ." I am shaking my head, "NO".

I told him that the only thing missing from my body is my thyroid and that's quite a distance from my abdomen. I asked him to return to the Dr. that read my scan and verify that it was in fact MY scan that I was receiving results from. He returned and said that it was and it stands that I have kidney stones. Then he asked me again, "Are you certain you did not have your appendix removed?" This from the gentleman that JUST did a visual exam on my abdomen. Helllooo?

Would that make you feel confident in their diagnoses or what?

Who knows WHAT I have?!?! I have not passed any stones that I know of, although I certainly could have. I am only using a filter at home  'cause you know-it is kind of weird to have to rinse these apparatuses in the public sink and all. The pain has lessened quite a bit, but I still can feel that something is not right.

I also use a bile supplement, digestive enzymes, and milk thistle. I also did another cleanse (different type) and I am eating things that I understand to support the digestive system and help detox the liver. It is either something I am doing or I passed the stones without knowing it because something has lessened the pain, which is good :).

Thanks for your support, Tammy!

Dawn,
I'm no doc and I don't claim to know the answers, but I will tell you what worked for me.

I did this cleanse about 4 times over a 2-month period and it worked and yet didn't work. I had two sonagrams done. One was in the ER when I went in with severe pain. They found my gallbladder was full of stones. I went back home and stayed away from all food that caused pain. I also did the cleanse recommended here over the next 2 months. And it is gross to drink! I gagged a lot while doing it.

Unfortunately, my pain continued. I went back to the doc to arrange surgery and had a pre-surgery sonagram. There was only one tiny stone left! I had the surgery because the pain continued. It turned out that I had a cyst on the gall bladder.

Also, something the traditional docs don't tell you.... I continued to have pain AFTER my gall bladder was removed. That's because the stones come from the liver and settle in the gall bladder so I was still producing stones. My current doc says it's a result of poor eating habits and a fatty liver. I now take ox bile with meals (to substitute for the missing gall bladder). I also take digestive enzymes and milk thistle with each meal. It has helped me tremendously. I also found rebounding and walking alleviate the pain.

I hope this helps! Good luck with it.

Tammy

From Dr. Pearsall:
If you suspect something is wrong, always consult your physician and do not
take anything we say as medical advice as we cannot diagnose what is going
on with you. Here is some information on inflammation of the gallbladder.
Often attacks are precipitated by fasting.

Symptoms of gallstones are often called a gallstone "attack" because they
occur suddenly. A typical attack can cause:

steady pain in the upper abdomen that increases rapidly and lasts from 30
minutes to several hours
pain in the back between the shoulder blades
pain under the right shoulder
nausea or vomiting
Gallstone attacks often follow fatty meals, and they may occur during the
night. Other gallstone symptoms include:

abdominal bloating
recurring intolerance of fatty foods
colic
belching
gas
indigestion

People who also have the above and any of following symptoms should see a
doctor right away:

sweating
chills
low-grade fever
yellowish color of the skin or whites of the eyes
clay-colored stools

The gall bladder cleanse - a safe and proven natural method to relieve
digestive problems and clear built up congestion in the liver, gall bladder
and bile ducts. Rather than taking the traditional, medical way of thinking
by only looking at the symptoms, let's now consider how to avoid the problem
of a congested gall bladder and how to prevent the unpleasant effects.

The gall bladder cleanse is also a good way to help prevent problems, and in
most cases, solve current gall bladder problems that people have developed
due to a poor lifestyle of eating.
You will need:

* 400 ml cold pressed virgin olive oil
* 6-8 lemons - 4 liters apple juice (preferably organic and NOT
reconstituted)
* Colon cleanse or other suitable laxative
* Acidophilus

The day before
Eat a light breakfast and then fast for the rest of the day by drinking
apple juice and water. The apple juice needs to be at room temperature as
cold drinks quench the energy of the liver. The apple juice is to begin
softening the gallstones and the laxative stimulates the bile ducts. In the
evening of this day have 2 caps of colon cleanse with a glass of water
followed by some lemon juice.

The next day
Continue fasting with juice and water until the evening when you will need
the olive oil and the lemon juice. Over ½ hr to 1 hour drink all the olive
oil by swallowing as much as possible (for example 100mls at a time)
followed by 2-3 teaspoons of lemon juice. Wait approx 10 minutes and repeat
until all the oil is gone. Then go to bed and lie down on your right side
until you go to sleep. Either during the night or the next morning you will
begin to pass stools which look like chaff and may have some greenish ill
formed stones in the stool.

Over the next week
Do not eat any fried foods – keep your diet fairly simple and supplement
yourself with acidophilus for at least a week. You can expect to have
improved digestive capacity, increased energy and a decrease in any
digestive discomfort.
