I noticed that there is a slight  discrepancy in your Week 1 Shopping List and the actual recipes for Week 1. I used both your list and my own (created from the recipes). I now have everything that I need to see me through Week 1 but I did notice that the two lists were slightly different.

sweet potatoes

Great- glad you did enjoy them but totally ok to bake them next time. Many weeks we do recommend baking them, but we are trying to make the menus as delicious and varied as possible!

Shopping List Discrepancy

I ended up doing it both ways-sweet potatoes in the crockpot with the chicken as well as baking some on the side. My crockpot cooked ones were REALLY done, very moist, and were very tasty. Not at all as greasy as I had envisioned. A lot of it stayed in the broth, because they were just falling apart into tiny pieces, which is also wonderful. The broth tastes quite yummy with the addition of the sweet potatoes in there! I blended it up and made a nice warming soup. I will, however, stick with baking my sweet potatoes. In my opinion, the caramelizing is what really makes sweet potatoes taste so yummy and flavorful, and ya just can't get that in a crockpot. I am glad baking them works with the Enlita plan.

Thank you for bringing these to my attention. I will correct these issues as soon as possible.
As for the chicken and sweet potatoes, I don't think it makes them greasy-just very moist. We suggest cooking them this way because it is easy. Yes then they are intented to be eaten with the meals when 1/2 sweet potato is called for- you can eat it however you like.
You are also free to just bake them separately.

Shopping List Discrepancy

I noticed a few discrepancies with the shopping list and thought I'd mention it here in case it helps someone else out!

WEEK 1
Missing from Shopping List but called for in Recipes or Meals:

Carrots (Middle Eastern Chickpea Stew, Meal 1&2-Day3 & Day 5, Meal 5&6-Day 5, Turkey or Beef Hash, and Asian Chicken Stir Fry) = approx. 16 carrots

Papaya-Day 5, meal 5 & 6 = 1

Pears-List calls for only 2.
2 are needed in Green Salad w/pears and pecans, and 1 for Meal 1, Day 2 & 3 = 3

Brussels Sprouts or Artichokes-called for on Day 7-Meal 5 & 6

Sardines-cannot find where they are used in any of the menus. Several cans called for on list.

Questions on some of the recipes:

1) Crockpot Chicken- Are the sweet potatoes peeled and cubed, whole and unpeeled, or what, while they are being cooked in the crock pot?

Also, are these the sweet potatoes we use in later meals? Cold, reheated, mashed??? AND, are they greasy from being cooked under the crockpot chicken? I just can't quite wrap my mind around that. Can we just cook the chicken in the crock pot and bake the sweet potatoes separate???

Thanks for your help!

menu/recipe discrepancies

Yes,
We certainly are working out the bugs! We were going to allow the non-gluten grains at first, but then we changed course...as for the small amount of sugar in an entire recipe, we actually do feel that is ok- we want our food to taste good and we don't want anyone to feel they are going through a completely spartan regime.
We've been working over the last few weeks to update all the menus and recipes so that there are no mistakes- look for the newly revised menus soon!

Shopping List Discrepancy

I've found a few discrepancies. Not to do with the shopping lists, but I thought you might want to know.

Week 1

Recipes: Asian chicken stir fry recipe says to serve over brown rice. Grains aren't allowed in the first two weeks. (You probably created universal recipes that can be reused later. But this could cause some confusion, or some blind following.)

The Thai Curry beef recipe (delicious!) calls for organic brown sugar. I'm sure we're supposed to be avoiding any kind of sugar in the beginning. I sweetened my curry sauce with a little stevia.

Menu for day 4 has Lentil Kale soup listed after the evening snack. Should this have been somewhere else?

Menu for Week 2:

Day 6 Dinner calls for 1/2 cup quinoa. That isn't allowed until the following week. Also there's no evening snack listed for that day. Not a big deal. I can skip or improvise.

I realize you're still getting the bugs worked out, so I thought you might like to know.

Please let us know of any discrepancies you find so that we can correct the shopping list(s). Since we are in the early stages of offering the program, we are constantly making small changes and sometimes a change is made to a menu without the accompanying change taking place on the shopping list. So please give us feedback- what was the discrepancy you found?- so we can correct it. Thanks!
