Okay not to follow the menus?
I am at the end of week 1, and just looking back over the week, I am not following the menus religiously at all. I just wanted to make sure that is okay.
What we are doing, as a family, is eating many (5-6) small meals per day, and making sure that we have protein, vegetables, and fruits at each meal. My daughter is eating more fruit than I am. I am only eating 2-3 pieces of fruit per day.
We have been following the hypoallergenic diet, eating only suggested foods, but we are more likely to just put a little meat on our plate with some raw vegetables and that is our "meal".
Also, I have found that I am not hungry 5-6 times per day, so some of those "meals" are just snacks of a little bit of protein (maybe 1/4 chicken breast) and a piece of fruit, or handful of nuts.
I do have to say, other than the first day, I haven't felt hungry at all. In fact, I feel like I'm constantly eating! :D
Welcome to the program!
Since you already have some experience with food sensitivities, you are ahead of the game. Sorry to hear you have so many foods you need to avoid though. Hopefully through the program you will be able to strenthen your gut and immune system and adrenals and heal some of your food allergies. Or they may just be fixed for you- we'll have to see.
You husband's idea sounds ok- or skip the shakes and just make sure you are having some form of protein, some raw foods, a bit of healthy carbs, and good fats with each meal. Eat what you can from the menus and make substitutions where necessary. Use the shopping lists as a reference, skip what you need to, and fill in where necessary. Keep in touch and let us know how you're doing!

Thanks for posting this. I just signed up today and am going over the menus for week one. I had an ALCAT back in 2004 and I'm still allergic to most of the foods on the list even after avoiding them for six months. I'm allergic to a large number of foods listed: beef (although I can eat bison), pork, carrots, eggplant, bananas, and cayenne to name a few--
My husband suggested a meal replacement drink made with whole frutits/veggies/whey protein with a big salad for the two recipes I can't tweak (no grain or soy in the drink--I'm allergic to soy and gluten anyway). Think that would be ok?
I'm hoping to shop on Friday and start my life-changing adventure on Saturday!
Also, when can I start drinking raw milk/yogurt/kefir again?
Thanks for this great website!
What you are doing is absolutely fine and it sounds like you are doing great! The menus and recipes are there for those people that want and need that type of structure. But it is just fine to make your own meals- just make sure to follow the parameters of the program.
