Knee injury

Besides reducing the amount of weight I am placing on my knees, , what can I do to keep up a good level of exercise with an old knee injury?

Would wrapping it help? Is there a supplement that helps?

My workouts are walking, bike riding, house cleaning, home construction, and yard work. I do not have an exercise ball, medicine ball, or free weights. (OTHER than the gallons of milk, squashes, and animal feed/water containers I lift every day!)

Also, will there be more exercises posted on the site at any point?

Thank you!

Re: Knee Problems

Creative use of household objects  — awesome!

I hope that your knee begins feeling better for you, go easy on it.

Sounds good

Your workout plan currently sounds like it should be good, but try not to go too hard on your knee. As long as you are remaining active and eating healthy you should be fine. Just try not to cause anymore damage.

Awesome use of household items, haha!

Knee injury

Deb-

Thanks for the great tips!

I have used glucosamine, and it did help . . . all my *other* joints  , but it didn't seem to help much with the old knee. I used it for 6 months. Maybe I needed to give it more time???

I really am trying to make everything I can, a workout. Frequency and intensity are frustrating me, but I will persevere.

I guess I'll just keep on keeping on!

Appreciate your input,
Dawn

Hi Dawn ...

It sounds like you're doing a bit already to keep yourself moving.

I was going to mention more low-impact exercises like biking, but you have that in your list. You'll definitely help your weight-loss cause by including some resistance training, even if it's just lifting those gallons and feed containers a few more times than usual. I'm sure you've probably heard it before, but building muscle helps your body burn more calories, even at rest.

Also, have you ever heard of glucosamine? Great for joints, and it may help. While it's not a quick fix (usually takes a few weeks to really notice a difference for most people), it may be something you want to consider or at least do some research on.
