I seem to be holding excessive water even though I am drinking a minimum of 8 glasses of water every day. Is there anything you suggest as a natural diruretic? I am in week 5 and testing citrus. I know lemon juice can work, but didn't know if I should wait until after the 3 days.

Thanks,
Karen

If it is truly edema, I would feel more comfortable with you seeing your physician to determine the cause- edema does not come from drinking too much water, though...
Things you might want to try are dry skin brushing with a natural bristle brush (this stimulates lymph flow), watching your salt intake, and increasing your raw foods. A rebounder (a mini-trampoline like apparatus you jump on for exercise) is also excellent.
But again, if it is truly edema, you should have it checked out.

Dr. Winnie,

I have edema in my legs that won't go away. Could I be drinking too much water?

Thanks,
Karen

Karen,
What makes you feel that you're "holding water" exactly? You feel bloated? Dandelion leaf (not dandelion root) can be an effective natural diuretic without harmful side effects. I feel its best taken as an herbal infusion- which is a long soaking of the dried herb in water...
