Cooking utensils?

I just purchased some enameled cast iron cookware and noticed that the instructions say to NOT use metal utensils. I do have some wooden and silicone spoons, but will need to purchase a spatula.
It looks like my options are silicone or plastic (having never seen a wooden spatula :D ) - is one material recommended over another?
